There are many CMS products you use that you are not aware of, e.g. forums, shopping carts, and blog sites such as Wordpress and Blogger or 'wiki's' such as 'Wetpaint' or 'Pbworks' There is even a conventional looking 'website' called 'synthasite'(now YOLA) where you can make you own site. Before getting stuck in to using a CMS it is a good idea to look and play with these first. All the links are given later.

My advice is that 'Wetpaint' is good if you want a family site to share things such as photos etc. The best one for something like a project or forum for the computer club is the 'Pbworks' site. These sites can be public or you can restrict who can view them and edit. The limitations are in the layout and designs you can use.

The main drawback with CMS is that it can be daunting to setup, but much easier to grow and change. The other good thing is that they are all open source (free), all work well with 'Linux' and 'Windows' and no Microsoft involvement to be seen!
